New Salmon Lures
The good news is that Scent Striker is preparing to release new salmon lures for the 2025 season! Their debut will be at the Winter Market on December 13-14, 2024, in Juneau, Alaska.
We are particularly excited about one of the new Vortaks options. Customers have asked for this addition to our Vortaks line at trade shows and in other communications.
The Not So Good News
However, as is often the case, bad news comes along with good news. Our bad news? We get another “do-over” when it comes to remodeling our assembly facility.
One year and a day after the historic Mendenhall River glacier outburst flood of 2023 destroyed our assembly facility, a new record flood swept through Scent Striker’s manufacturing space. Forty-seven inches of standing water in our plant. Ouch!
August 8, 2024, was one of the lowest days I’ve ever experienced. Walking through our humble little assembly plant the morning after the new record flood, I realized the previous year’s rebuilding work was for nothing. Quitting was a driving compulsion.
Fortunately, today turns into tomorrow. A new tomorrow brings hope that recovery may be possible again. Maybe rolling up the sleeves once more isn’t so bad.
Getting Back On Track With New Lures
Today, Scent Striker is on its way to returning its assembly plant to working condition a second time in a little over a year. We’ve come far enough that some corners have resumed limited assembly steps. Other corners need more work and will be done in weeks to come.
Juggling the remodel, renewing assembly, building up stock levels, and getting out new salmon lures can sometimes be daunting. But new salmon lures that fill our fish boxes seem worth the effort. The new mantra is to keep moving forward one step at a time!
A little teaser is in order here. It whets that appetite for next year’s fishing season. It’s a reminder that winter will pass, spring will come, and a new salmon season will materialize!
One of the new Vortaks salmon lures has a dark green head and a two-tone, silicone rubber-skirted body. The pattern resembles a baby lingcod, hence its pattern name—Lingcod.
Oh, and the new salmon lure color customers asked for. We’ll unveil that one next month in our December post.
Happy Fishing!
